Transcript for "Are You Getting What You Need From Your Current PEO?": Thank you for taking the time to join us today. As organizations grow, many leaders begin to question whether their PEO is truly keeping up across technology, benefits, pricing transparency, and support. In this session, we break down what a modern HR solution should deliver today and reveal the hidden gaps that could be holding your organization's back. Please use the chat on the right side of your screen to say hello and to help us welcome to the stage TriNet's Justin Manning and Lewis Sweeney. Welcome, everyone. Thanks for joining us today. We're excited to spend some time with you talking about how TriNet helps businesses manage HR in a way that's tailored to their specific needs. We'll also touch on a few challenges often experienced with other PEOs and show how TriNet takes a different approach by acting as a true adviser and long term partner, just not a provider. My name is Justin Mani. I'm a senior sales consultant here at TriNet, and I'm joined today by my colleague, Lewis Sweeney. Good morning. Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks for joining. My name's Lewis Sweeney. As Justin mentioned, I'm a consultant here with TriNet located in the Bay Area. Excited for everyone to be here today, and I look forward to talking to you all. Awesome, Louis. Before we jump in, just a few quick housekeeping items for anyone who's new to this event space. On the right of your screen, you'll see a few tabs, chat, messages, docs, and q and a. Feel free to use the chat throughout the session. But if you have a question you'd like answered, please drop it in the q and a tab so it doesn't get lost. Some questions will be asked or addressed live at the end, and others may be answered directly in the Q and A by members of our supporting team behind the scenes. One quick note, the slides won't be shared after today, but we do have a companion resource available for download in the docs tab. And if you'd like to revisit anything, this session will also be available on demand using the same link you used to join today. And finally, if you have a question that is more specific to your company or that you'd like to connect with us separately, just click the contact TriNet button above the presentation, and we'll be happy to follow-up with you after the session. So looking ahead, here's what we'll cover today. First, how TriNet supports small and medium sized businesses or SMBs with industry tailored HR solutions. A closer look at our technology platform, benefit options, pricing model, and our approach with our service team. Why industry specialization and EPLI coverage are key differentiators for TriNet, and then finally, we'll recap with why TriNet might be the right fit for your business. Our goal today is here for you to walk away with a clear understanding of how TriNet can support your HR needs today and as your business grows. At the end of the day, our commitment remains the same and stronger than ever, which is to empower small and medium sized businesses and their employees to grow, scale, and innovate with confidence. Lewis? Yeah. Thanks, Justin. With, over thirty five years of HR expertise, TriNet supports approximately 20,000 clients and 340,000 worksite employees. Last year, TriNet processed $73,000,000,000 in payroll, demonstrating the reliability, reach, and rigor that small and medium sized businesses need from a strategic HR partner. So let's talk about technology for a minute. If you've worked with most PEO platforms, you've probably felt this. Oftentimes, they're outdated, clunky, and really more frustrating than helpful. They're hard to navigate, they slow you down, and they don't integrate well with other tools your team is already using. That's really exactly what TriNet set out to fix. Our platform's modern, intuitive, and designed to make your life easier, not add another layer of complexity. Everything works seamlessly, payroll benefits, HR, so you're not jumping between systems, and your employees get a great experience too. We have a 4.8 out five rating mobile app with over 33,000 reviews, so they can handle things on the go without coming to you for every request. On top of that, you get things like workforce analytics, real time reporting and insights, fully integrated time off, expense, performance management. So what does that actually mean? Less time dealing with systems, fewer headaches, and more time focused on running and growing the business. We hope that's that's the difference with TriNet. Now, let's talk about how everything comes together. All of your core HR services are unified within one platform with TriNet. So, again, you're not bouncing between systems or dealing with disconnected processes. It's built with simple navigation, task management, helps you eliminate paperwork, all the manual things that really no one wants to do. Our system's cloud based. It's mobile friendly, creates a seamless experience for both you and your employees. So starting from day one with onboarding and benefits, everything's easier, streamlined, makes HR faster. That simplicity carries through to payroll, making it easy for both managers and employees to use. So behind the scenes, you have a powerful analytics and reporting tool giving you greater visibility into your business. At the end of the day, it's technology. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and with access to HR anytime from anywhere. We wanted to pause here and give anybody a opportunity if they had questions on so far what we've already discussed. Please feel free to put it in chat. I don't see any questions. yet, Lewis, so we'll save some time at the end. Awesome. Alright. So let's switch gears, and let's talk about benefits. This is one of the biggest drivers of employee satisfaction and retention. And for a lot of businesses, benefits are also one of the hardest things to get right. We often don't we often see companies struggling with limited plan options or tiers that reflect the different needs of their workforce. Another common challenge is availability, especially for teams that are remote or distributed, operating across multiple state lines. When benefits don't work for everyone, it becomes much harder to attract that talent that you're looking for. This is where TriNet really differentiates itself. At TriNet, we give biz businesses access to rich, competitive benefit plans through strong partnerships with both national and regional carriers. That means you're not locked into a one size fits all approach. You have the flexibility to offer plans that might be stronger in one area and weaker in others. We also provide broad, consistent availability for multistate and remote employees, which is critical as more companies embrace remote work. With TriNet, your employees can access high quality benefits no matter where they're located. To make benefit selection easier, we focus heavily on simplifying the decision making process. We often offer plan comparison tools, one on one advice, and side by side guidance with our benefit team. On top of that, we partnered with HelpV to deliver a benefit decision support tool. This tool helps leaders and employees better understand their options so they can confidently choose the plans that are the best fit for their families and individual needs. At the end of the day, with TriNet, you're not just offering benefits. You're getting a strategic partner who helps you navigate the complexity of benefits from selection to delivery so you can stay competitive, support your employees, and build a strong workforce. Now switching gears to pricing because this is an area where most employers feel frustrated with their current PEO. One of the biggest challenges we hear is about unpredictability in pricing. Many providers use percentage based pricing, which means costs go up as salaries increase or when employees earn supplemental income. That can make budgeting and long term planning really challenging. On top of that, some providers actually retain section one twenty five savings as part of their fee structure, so employers don't get the full financial benefit they're entitled to. At TriNet, we take a totally different approach, and it starts with transparency. First, we use a simple headcount based pricing model. Your costs are tied to the number of employees you have, not the salaries or income fluctuations. This gives you far more predictability so that there are no surprises as your team grows or as compensation changes. Second with TriNet, you keep your section one twenty five tax savings. Like mentioned before, with some other PEOs, we don't roll that into an admin fee. Those savings stay with you and your employees. Lastly, TriNet clients pay FICA taxes on net wages, not gross wages, which is another area where we often see real savings compared to other PEO models. With TriNet, you're not just getting a more predictable pricing structure. You're maximizing tax savings and gaining more control over your costs, which allows for you to focus your resources wherever they matter most, investing your people and scaling your business. Over to you, Lewis. Alright. Let's talk about support. A buzzword, especially nowadays. I think everybody who's on this call, we've all been there, call into support and sometimes get seventeen hour holds. Oftentimes, PEOs, long hold times, personal service, support teams that really don't understand your business. It's frustrating. It can make you feel kind of like you're just another number. At TriNet, we take a different approach. Every client gets a dedicated relationship manager, payroll contact, someone who knows your business intimately and is there for you to provide tailored support. You as the client will always know who to call. And if you need help outside of normal business hours, no problem. Our support team's available twenty four seven via chat. We have phone, email, and online case submission available as well. To make things really even easier, we also have an employee worksite solution center so your employees can get HR support directly without adding to your workload for your internal team. The result, you're you're never left waiting. You always have a team that understands your business, responds quickly, and solves problems efficiently. With TriNet, our support isn't just reactive. It's personalized, proactive, and designed to give you peace of mind. So HR, it's not a one size fits all business. Generic PEO solutions that might work for some businesses, they don't often work for others. They miss the mark, especially in industries like tech, nonprofit, or financial services. Your challenges for your business are unique, and you need an HR solution that should be too. At TriNet, we tailor our solutions to meet specific needs of your industry. Our specialized sales and service teams provide consultative support to help you tackle challenges that matter most to your business. We don't just understand HR, we understand your specific business. And that that understanding, that really makes all the difference in the world. Thanks, Lewis. Now for risk and EPLI coverage. Because this is an area where a lot of employers still feel exposed. While many PEOs technically offer EPLI and limited flexibility leave employers unsure how protected they really are when a claim comes up. That's where TriNet takes a different approach. TriNet's EPLI is designed to provide real peace of mind. It's comprehensive with clear cost structures and strong protection against employment related claims so that there are fewer surprises when it matters most. When you partner with TriNet, you can feel confident knowing your business is better protected, which allows you to focus less on risk and more on growing, scaling, and innovating with confidence. Alright. At TriNet, our goal is really simple. It's to help clients navigate HR with confidence and ease. We had a a recent tech validate survey of a 170 of our clients. We asked them whether they agreed or disagreed with a series of statements about their experience with TriNet, and the results are displayed here on the screen. Our clients reported that partnering with TriNet helped them enhance their employee experience, gain peace of mind, specifically around compliance, improve internal HR systems and processes, offer robust benefits to their employees, better navigate HR complexity, and, ultimately become more productive in their daily work. So in short, TriNet doesn't just manage HR. We make it easier, more efficient, optimize, and make that more impactful for both you and your team. That's really what it's about, Lewis, is making those employees happy and confident in the workplace. TriNet helps you save time, reduce risk, scale efficiently, and deliver a better employee experience with big company benefits minus the complexity. And that's really what we're here for, is to partner with you in building your business. Now I think we should look over the q and a, Lewis, and see if we have. any questions there that we can address. I think one, Justin, Christina asked, how are you only taxing the net amount for FICA? That is a great question. Yeah. I think that maybe was actually miss so we actually no. On FICA, we would tax on gross wages. I think that was the section one twenty five taxes that we were referring to. Yeah. And, Christina, if you wanna get, a little bit more in the weeds around the taxes and how we differ, happy to have a conversation, in-depth, offline too. And then Sally asked, Justin, your lowest customer rating on one of the last slides there was offer access to benefits. Why is that? Oh, that is a great question. Let me take a we can that. slide. Looking at it now as well. It was pretty I see. Yeah. We can look and dig into the data and let you know, Sally. I mean, I don't just to be candid, I don't know the answer to that question right off the top, but we definitely can get you that answer after we jump off jump jump off long. And then it looks like Ben had a question. Can TriNet provide all aspects of the HR function? Can you train our HR employees as we grow and train them over time? And I would say yes. So we work with all companies at different stages. Some of our clients, you know, are in the infancy. They don't have someone internal for HR. So maybe they have someone that's a, you know, an ops person, someone it's sometimes it's the CEO that we're working with. And then as the company scales, you know, obviously, that changes. So they might have an ops person. They might hire a payroll person. And, really, we're their outsourced HR partner. So you don't need an internal HR person in order to work with TriNet. We are your HR arm. But we can also we do have clients that, you know, grow into having their internal HR team, and then we're just an extension or resource for them. And then, Justin, when just, I saw this one regarding benefits. Can I limit what benefits health plans we offer to employees? Do you want me to take that or do wanna take it? I mean, I can take that. So with TriNet, employees will have access to the plans that are, you know, strongest in their area. So, back when we were talking about benefits, we talked about national carriers and then also regional options. And so, like, Kaiser wouldn't be applicable to someone in Texas because there's no Kaiser in Texas. On TriNet, we realized that, and so they'll have regional carriers, Kaiser, wherever Kaiser's available, you know, Tufts in Massachusetts where it's strongest, and then Aetna in the Tri State area. Yeah. And then just to expand upon that, Lynn, again, not sure if you're referencing Justin's question, but also what we do when we bring clients on is we talk about the benefit offerings, and we develop a strategy with each one of our clients. So there is a way in terms of, you know like Justin mentioned, all the plans are gonna be offered that are regional to that specific employee and where they're based, but there is a way for the company to benchmark and create a financial kind of limitation on how much the company is willing to pay. So, again, just like covering both bases there in case that's what your question was referencing, but hopefully, that that answered it. Alright. I think that's it so far. If anybody else has any questions, please feel free to put them in the chat now. Okay. Oh, I just got one in there. Sally, no. So is the first your live date with TriNet is the beginning of coverage under medical. There's the thirty day open enrollment that everybody's allowed to select their plans. If there's any claims during that thirty days, the whatever plans are selected will retroactively kick in from their start date. So there's not a wait period. Also, just to add to that, you know, some of our clients want to implement a waiting period for their employees to be eligible for benefits. So if that was the question also, you know, we have clients that have eligibility the date that they are hired or a thirty day, sixty day, ninety day waiting period. But clients are have access the day they start on TriNet. And, yes, Judy. Yes. We absolutely can help with the HR piece. If you have health insurance in place that you love, wanna keep, that's totally fine. We can help facilitate all of the compliance and HR piece. So yes. Alright. Give me more second for any other. questions. I was gonna say maybe give another minute or two. We've had a couple really good questions the last couple of minutes here. And, again, if anyone would like to talk one on one, you can click the contact TriNet button, and Lewis or I will reach out after today's webinar to connect one on one. Rihanna, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to see the docs. Any idea, Lewis? No. I can't see either why that wouldn't be the case. But we can we can make sure now we can get your information and send it over to you if you like. Sorry about that. We although we're not sharing this deck, we do have an overview of TriNet that we can email over to you if you'd like. Okay. There we go. Justin, I think we just had one last one pop up. Are we I know we got a couple now. Ben asked, are you all licensed or certified payroll provider? Yes. Yes. We are. Sorry. All these questions are being really like I'm just here waiting for Okay. So, yes, we are. I saw something about training for forklift training. So we do provide learning management. And I believe within the learning management, there is forklift training. But we can if you wanna drop your details, we can circle back with that and confirm. And then, John, I'm sorry. Your question looks like oh, no. Here we go. Never mind. I just had to expand on my end. It says, for a small company with only a few employees, we're joining TriNet allows to obtain more stable and reliable health insurance rates by being part of your larger group? In other words, are employees from client companies considered part of the broader TriNet group for underwriting process purposes? Great. Great question. So, yes, to the former of your question. When you join with TriNet, we price we we do composite rates. So you go under our umbrella. That's the PEO model. So when we initially price your group and we go to the carriers, we're going as, as I mentioned earlier, I think, 390,000 employees. That's what our rates are with the carriers that we're negotiating on your behalf. So, yes, when we initially price your group. Great questions. These last couple have been a little bit. I think we've got them all. What about during renewals? So it would be yeah. So we're getting another comment saying that someone else can't see. Elizabeth can't see the docs tab either. I'm wondering where the Discovery Zone. I think that's where they are, Lewis. Right? The Discovery Zone? Yes. Yeah. Perfect. Believe so. And then during renewals, it depends. So clients are renewals are obviously, you're taking part of our aggregated employee count, but there is it your renewal is based off of utilization for the group. So depending on the how that utilization is, that is a factor that is taken into the renewal. Background checking. Yes. So we work with a third party. It's integrated to our platform, and they offer reduced price depending on the type of background check that you're looking for. There's, like, city, state, federal. And so depending on the role you're hiring for and the level, we do have that integrated to our platform in the applicant tracking system. E Verify, we do work with as well. So yes. I think, Michael, your question here, I see it says related to research. What POs do current clients use before they move to TriNet? I think it runs the gamut. Right? There's dozens of POs. We have, you know, various clients coming over from numerous ones throughout the whole the whole spectrum, really. Yeah. I would say the most common are probably, you know, the top three, Insperity, ADP. We have a lot of customers that grow into TriNet, so from Gusto or Rippling, you know, that still wanna access Better Benefits and a tech forward platform. And then I see another one, Justin. Oh, that's a good question. It says why do they switch from ADP? I've had a lot of clients switch over. And, this has just been anecdotal, my personal experience. This couple of things we touched on, the pricing transparency with kind of the way billing is done from ADP versus TriNet, sometimes the platform in terms of the technology utilization for employees. They we've I've had clients come over and have a really great experience transitioning that way. So, you know, I think that's a really powerful question with that needs a lot more context and maybe more individual one on one So love to kinda elaborate more offline with you on that if if you'd like more context too because Justin and I both have had a lot of clients come over from ADP. Yeah. I mean, I would also just add to that cost. Right? Like, with ADP, you don't know what you're paying as their worker comp and admin is combined. And so not knowing is kind of scary and you know? But also the other things that Lewis mentioned as well, like a platform. I have employees for. Okay. Yeah. So this is something that our platform does automatically. So it breaks out which hours were worked for any nonexempt employees and then the rate of pay for the overtime for each city that requires that in state like California. We can reach out to you, added. Ben, if you'd like after the. call. Christina just asked, what is the average employee size for your customers? Think. Is it the 15, Justin, is the average? Yeah. Yeah. I would say our average is probably somewhere in between, you know, 10 to 20 employees when they onboard. However, I mean, we just brought over a company that was 67 from ADP, So it really varies depending upon the company's needs and goals. And, yes, we do have an applicant tracking system. It was built in house. It's called TriNet time and does everything that, you know, any other time and attendance system would do. I, know. I know you mentioned in the chat that we you said you have a demo platform in the Discovery Zone. There's some self exploratory demos that you can access, I believe, in there. But if you'd like to see a technology demo, Justin and I could help facilitate that too once we jump off as well. We for retirement, Christina, we partner with Empower, which is included at no cost to our clients to offer to their employees. I know that we're over time a little bit, so I thought I'd give one more minute for any questions. And then, also, Lewis and I can head to the discovery zone if anyone wants to ask some questions there as well. Okay. I think those are really great. Appreciate everyone's questions, and thank you all so much for joining today, taking a little bit of time out of your morning or afternoon. We're gonna go ahead and jump over Justin and I into the discovery zone now. So if anybody has further questions, again, please feel free to reach out to Justin and I after today's Thanks, webinar ends. here. You so much. Take care. Thanks, Justin. Up next, we invite you to join us in the TriNet Discovery Zone. This is our virtual space where you can explore self guided demos, download resources, and more. You'll be moved to the Discovery Zone once this session ends or you can click the Discovery Zone tab on the upper left hand side of your screen now.
